At CIMA (Atlantic Center for Environmental Research, S.L.), we want to show you what we do—both in our offices and beyond.

On this page, you’ll find a series of short videos called "Things We Do at CIMA", which will help explain what we do and how we do it. All to bring you closer to the world of Marine Biology and Oceanography.

– «Things We Do At CIMA» #11: Fisheries and Aquaculture:

As you may have seen on our website, some of the studies we conduct are related to fishing and aquaculture.

These are preoperational studies and Environmental Monitoring of fishing projects and aquaculture concessions, carried out to determine the environmental impact on different biological communities.

Some of these studies focus on analyzing fishing gears predominantly used by artisanal fishermen in the islands. The data obtained will help us propose changes, good practices in their use, etc., to enhance their sustainability.

We also participate in various R&D&I projects aimed at strengthening the resilience of fishermen and aquaculture companies, promoting research into new resources, processes, and health/environmental controls that drive significant advancements in these sectors.

These studies are continuously and periodically evaluated by Competent Authorities and constitute an indispensable tool for carrying out these activities sustainably in the coastal marine environment.
