At CIMA (Atlantic Center for Environmental Research, S.L.), we want to show you what we do—both in our offices and beyond.

On this page, you’ll find a series of short videos called "Things We Do at CIMA", which will help explain what we do and how we do it. All to bring you closer to the world of Marine Biology and Oceanography.

«Things We Do at CIMA» #16: R&D&I:

The activity of our company is, almost entirely, research and innovation. We have an R&D&I department that develops research projects to integrate the results of these studies into the company’s strategic knowledge.

To achieve this, we periodically conduct technological surveillance tasks to stay informed about changes, technologies, research, etc., that can drive innovation in the company’s projects. Through this surveillance and insights from our own project experiences and needs, we have contributed to developing tools that aid research projects for both our company and other entities.

Our main lines of work are:

– Development of protocols for determination of pollutants and integrated analysis of animal and plant communities.

– Cultivation of alternative prey as food for species of socio-economic interest.

– Impact of human activity on coastal marine ecosystems (outfalls, desalination plants, ports, aquaculture, etc.).

– Modeling as a tool to predict environmental responses to disturbing factors of the environment.

Among the R&D&I projects in which CIMA is currently participating are:

– European Project BIOTRANSFER 2. Co-financed by FEDER funds through the INTERREG V-A MAC 2014-2020 Programme.

– Proyecto europeo MIMAR. Cofinanciado por fondos FEDER a través del Programa INTERREG V-A MAC 2014-2020.

– Development of equipment for submarine prospecting and exploration. Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through the 2018 Grants for investment projects of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Canary Islands, awarded by the Government of the Canary Islands.

– Proyect of Equipment for generating new marine environmental management services related to land-to-sea discharges of wastewater and industrial effluents. Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) through the 2019 Grants for investment projects of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Canary Islands, awarded by the Government of the Canary Islands.
