Management and Research
Our services are specifically designed to investigate or assist you in investigating the marine environment. Aquaculture, Environmental Management, Mapping and Characterization of Communities, Equipment Rental, Environmental Management and Analysis, Systematics and Biological Laboratory, Chemical Analysis Laboratory, Oceanography, Marine Ecology, Impact Studies and Environmental Monitoring Plans, Training and Outreach.
Fishing and Aquaculture
We conduct preoperational studies and Environmental Monitoring of fishing projects and aquaculture concessions to determine the environmental impact on biological communities (fish populations, sandy-bottom fauna, marine phanerogams, etc.).
Equipment and Instrument Rental
There is the possibility to rent many of our measurement equipment, etc., as well as to subcontract our professionals for their use. CIMA’s two vessels, «Rorcual» and «Teror», are also available to our clients.

Cartography and Characterization of Communities
CIMA has georeferenced underwater video recording equipment and side-scan sonar, enabling the creation of high-precision underwater maps to chart existing communities and habitats and conduct detailed analyses of their evolution.
Environmental Management and Analysis
We provide support for the management of maritime-coastal resources to comply with, promote, and update the establishment of a legal framework that addresses the needs of integrated resource development.

Systematics and Biological Laboratory
CIMA's technical resources enable the identification of biological samples from the marine environment (organisms, tissues, etc.) for their use as indicators of the environmental quality of the coastal marine environment. CIMA and its taxonomists are accredited by ENAC under the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
Oceanography
Within the oceanography area, we conduct studies on currents and marine hydrodynamics, spill dispersion models, and pollutant distribution studies in the marine environment.

Marine Ecology
At CIMA, we conduct characterizations of marine seabeds (analysis of environmental parameters and faunal/floristic structure) that can be used as community descriptors to carry out spatio-temporal studies of the ecosystem and develop appropriate tools for the management and conservation of these communities.
Protected Species and Invasive Species
We perform monitoring of protected and invasive species to determine their evolution and propose management measures to ensure the proper conservation of Canary Islands marine ecosystems.

Impact Studies and Environmental Monitoring Plans
We coordinate and carry out environmental projects and studies for industries, construction companies, and public administrations.
Training and Outreach
We conduct a series of specific educational actions and projects, such as organizing and coordinating scientific outreach conferences and congresses. Additionally, we offer courses focused on integrating biologists into the workforce, environmental education, and specialized training.
