\"\"<\/a>From CIMA (Centro de Investigaciones Medioambientales del Atl\u00e1ntico, S.L.) (Atlantic Environmental Research Center), we want to show you what we do in and out our offices.<\/p>\n

On this page you can find a series of small videos called \u00abThings we do in CIMA\u00bb, which will help us to explain what we do and how we do it. All this to approach the world of marine biology and oceanography.<\/p>\n

– \u00abThings we do in CIMA\u00bb #21: Research:<\/strong><\/p>\n

As you already know, CIMA is an environmental consultant specialized in marine environment and, among our objectives, we have the research.<\/p>\n

Through our \u201cThings we do in CIMA\u201d<\/strong><\/a> videos, you have already found out that many of our services are specifically designed to develop research or to give support in marine research. If not, we encourage you to see several of them in which we talk about benthic samples \u201ctriads\u201d<\/strong><\/a>, plant species mapping<\/strong><\/a>, pollution biological indicators<\/strong><\/a>, species identification<\/strong><\/a> and many others that are available in our web<\/p>\n

If you read our blog<\/strong><\/a> (in Spanish) you know yet that these years, for example, we are collaborating researching introduction of exotic marine species, both coral<\/strong><\/a> and tropical fishes<\/strong><\/a>, in our ports and coasts.<\/p>\n

The beginning of our blog is fed by several articles that report on the \u00abStudy on the impact of fish pits and corrective technological improvements:\u00bb Proyecto Nasa Sostenible\u00bb\u00bb<\/strong><\/a>. We also collaborate with the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN)<\/strong><\/a> in DESPESCA Project<\/strong><\/a>, about fish traps and nets, to reduce their negative effects on the environment.<\/p>\n

Our main R+D+i work lines are:<\/p>\n

– Development of protocols for pollutant determination and integrated analysis of animal and plant communities;<\/p>\n

– Cultivation of alternative dams as food for species of socio-economic interest;<\/p>\n

– Evaluation of human activity influence on coastal marine ecosystems (emissaries, desalination, ports, aquaculture, etc …);<\/p>\n

– Modeling, used as a tool for prediction of environmental responses to disrupting factors.<\/p>\n

Through technological surveillance and due to experience and needs that have arisen in our own projects, CIMA has participated in elaboration of tools that proved useful in our own research projects as well as of other institutions.<\/p>\n

– CANAMOD<\/strong><\/a>: Modeling tool for the prediction of the environmental response to the material deposition coming from offshore cages from the Canary Islands.<\/p>\n

– PRESAPUL<\/strong><\/a>: Use of alternative preys for octopus (Octopus vulgaris) larvae growth.<\/p>\n

– MACAROMOD<\/strong><\/a>: Dispersion of organic matter coming from aquaculture farms: development of a mathematical model to guarantee environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

– Brine impact<\/strong><\/a>: Minimization of brine disposal impacts on seabed biodiversity, with special reference to the Cymodocea nodosa meadows.<\/p>\n

Ammong the R+D+i projects currently running are:<\/p>\n

European project BIOTRANSFER 2<\/strong><\/a>. Co-financed by FEDER funds through the INTERREG V-A MAC 2014-2020 Program.<\/p>\n

– European project MIMAR. Co-financed by FEDER funds through the INTERREG V-A MAC 2014-2020 Program.<\/p>\n

– Project for the Development of underwater exploration and exploration equipment<\/strong><\/a> (Spanish). Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through grants for investment projects of small and medium enterprises in the Canary Islands (2018).<\/p>\n

– Equipment for the generation of new marine environmental management services Project in relation to land discharges of waste and industrial water into the sea<\/strong><\/a>. Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through subsidies for investment projects of small and medium-sized companies in the Canary Islands for 2019 from the Government of the Canary Islands.<\/p>\n

– Underwater Cartography Study Project to carry out Bioprospecting in search of products and species with pharmacological potential and climate change experiments<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span> Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER CANARIAS 2014-2020) through subsidies to high technology and knowledge-intensive companies in priority areas of the RIS3.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, taking advantage of our day to day, we have just finished an article of environmental studies that must be carried out in relation to land-sea discharges.<\/p>\n
